As one of the founding partners of the Los Altos accounting firm Magnolia Group LLP, Katie Sims brings over nine years of experience in public accounting to her clientele. Ms. Sims’ career as a CPA has been focused on the areas of tax, litigation consulting and audit. Her tax practice includes tax planning involving real estate and stock options, and preparing tax returns for individual clients as well as for corporations and partnerships. Ms. Sims’ has worked with industries ranging from real estate to technology, professional service firms, and high net worth individuals. She also has extensive experience assisting clients in marital dissolution cases, including expert witness testimony as well as work as a court-appointed "neutral" expert. Ms. Sims' work in audit services has included engagements for both public and private companies.

Katie Sims graduated from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting. Ms. Sims also is a graduate of the San Jose Silicon Valley Community Leadership program. Ms. Sims also enjoys being active in her community as a Board member of City Lights Theater Company of San Jose, and as a volunteer for the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) in the Bay Area. She is a member of several organizations, including the CSCPA, Cal Society Family Law Litigation Section, and the San Jose Leadership Council.

Alice Kim, one of the founding partners of Magnolia Group, has over eleven years of experience in public accounting. Ms. Kim started her career in public accounting with KPMG in 1994 where she worked with a variety of corporate clients in various industries. She also spent a few years with the Ernst & Young Tax Department working with high technology companies. While she was with Ernst & Young, she worked with a team to minimize taxes for corporations including maximizing the R&D credit. After she left Ernst & Young, she joined a regional CPA firm and worked with high net worth individuals, trusts, partnerships, corporations, and non-profit organizations. While Ms. Kim brings the same commitment to each client she serves, she specializes in high net worth individual tax planning, including stock option planning and tax consulting for start-up companies.

Alice Kim graduated from George Mason University in Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and is a very active member of the community. Ms. Kim was elected as the Treasurer of the Korean-American Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and she is a member of the CSCPA.
